Doing good in the hood part 1: E-40 donates to former high school
It seems lately that the only time hip hop music is ever featured in the media is when something bad happens, or when some conservative talking head wishes to place blame upon it for society’s ills. Very rarely will you see stories about rappers doing good things for their communities on Fox News, CNN, or CBS, so that’s what this new section is for.
We get it started off right with my man E-40, who donated $12,000 to his former high school so they can purchase new band equipment.
The donation comes a year after much of Hogan High’s band equipment was destroyed after the school was vandalized.
Despite the damage, the drum line went on to become champions.
After hearing about the vandalization and the band’s determination to continue playing, E-40 contacted Tina Jamias, the Hogan High drum instructor, with an offer to help and a request for a wish list.
With all the hubub over the Don Imus controversy and hip hop’s alleged role in it, it’s easy to ignore the good that rappers do for their communities, but that’s what this is for. I hope to have to update this very frequently.
Fanboy Bitchfest Volume 1: The Devil May Cry 4 Fiasco
As many of you who are gamers may have already known, Capcom announced that “Devil May Cry 4″, a game once slated to be a Playstation 3 exclusive, is now headed for the Xbox 360. This game joins Assassin’s Creed, Mercenaries 2, and Virtua Fighter 5 as the latest in a long string of former PS3 exclusives now being turned into multiplatform releases. Enough about that, the real issue here is that several fanboys got up in arms, and have started a petition boycotting Capcom. Now keep in mind here that the game is still coming out to Playstation 3, but it’s also coming out to Xbox 360 as well. Now on the one hand, I can see what the outrage is about. There are people who have spent $600 on a machine just to play this game. But starting up a protest becuase it’s also on Xbox 360? Come on now. There are plenty of other PS3 exclusives worth creaming your pants over.
Windows Vista and Shit
Not a whole lot of updates in a while, but I got a few coming soon. I just got a new Windows Vista Laptop, and besides some program compatibility issues, it’s working okay. The neat feature Vista has is allowing users to run any program using compatibility settings from an earlier version of Windows, such as XP and 98. There are things this thing does different, so it may take a while to get used to.
The game is coming along slowly and surely. I’m working on the basic story line then putting in system features (weapons, magic, items, etc). Anything I need for the plot will be added in as I go along. Watch out for another demo within the next few weeks, hopefully by mid May at the latest. This one will have the drug dealing mechanic forming into place so you can practise your hustling skills.
